2020 Welding Fume Update

As 2019 draws to a close there has been a massive increase in welding protection products and machinery since the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) reclassified welding fume from ‘possibly carcinogenic to humans’, as was its position from 1989, to ‘carcinogenic to humans’ in 2017. AWS has since released a new 2019 study from an Australian and New Zealand perspective into lung cancer and the effects of welding fumes on our health.
